Who can join the Plainview YMCA?

All individuals are welcome to join the Plainview YMCA.  In upholding our commitment that "Everyone is Welcome," the Plainview YMCA acknowledges and honors the wide range of religious, spiritual and philosophical beliefs that volunteers, members, staff and community participants may hold. The Y respects the range of beliefs in our community by modeling acceptance, inclusion, compassion and love. We embrace the worth of each individual and assist them in developing their unique gifts and abilities.

The YMCA is a non-profit organization and depends heavily on paid memberships. In keeping with our commitment that everyone is welcome however, it is important to make services available to all persons. Some financial aid is available to those who qualify. Applications for scholarships for memberships and sports programs are available at the YMCA and each case is given individual attention.

Is the YMCA a non-profit charitable organization?

Yes, the Plainview YMCA is a local, community-based non-profit organization formed by volunteers in 1948. A volunteer board provides direction to help the YMCA respond to community needs. Tax- deductible contributions from the community make it possible to construct YMCA facilities as well as provide financial assistance so everyone can participate in YMCA membership and programs.

Can I use my Plainview YMCA membership anywhere?

The Plainview YMCA is a participant in the Nationwide Membership of YMCAs. This enables you to visit any other Nationwide membership participant YMCA in the United States and Puerto Rico through membership at your "home" YMCA. If you are a member at the Plainview YMCA we would be your home YMCA because you are enrolled as a member and we collect your membership dues.  If you'd like to find out more about other YMCAs, log onto www.ymca.net and enter the zip code of the area you are traveling to in the search field.

How do I become a member of the YMCA?

Visit the Y for a tour any time we're open.  For detailed join fee, rate information and an introduction to all of our programs and activities, please visit our home page and use the quick links or the drop down menus to explore your areas of interest. Click here for membership prices.

As a new member, you will have a joining fee and prorated dues for the first month to get you started.  The YMCA does not require a contract.  Youth, young adult, adult, senior, senior couple, one-parent family, two-parent family and corporate memberships are available, so you are sure to find the type of membership that best meets your needs.  We are committed to membership for all, and no one is turned away due to an inability to pay.  Please ask about our scholarship program.

Why join the Y?

The Plainview YMCA is a community that offers more than you expect.  Our focus is on building a relationship to support you in reaching your wellness goals whether it's losing weight, improving your health, changing your lifestyle, spending more time with your family or making new friends.  You'll find state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, group fitness activities, swimming, basketball, racquetball and more, along with staff who are here because they are caring, knowledgeable and truly want to make a difference.

The YMCA is also a charitable community service organization that provides support throughout Hale County and the surrounding area through numerous programs including teen and youth programs.

Our commitment to you is what makes the Y the place where you belong!

I'm moving to the Plainview area.  How do I transfer my Y membership to the Plainview YMCA?

Great!  We look forward to having you join our Y family.  Please make sure you stop your membership at your current Y before you move.  Then come in within 30 days of your ending date at your current Y to get your membership started.  You will need to bring a letter from your current YMCA which is addressed to the Plainview YMCA.  The letter should provide evidence of your membership at that Y and your ending date.  We'll take it from there.

Are donations to the YMCA tax deductible?

Yes.  General donations or contributions to a Strong Kids Campaign, building campaign or Heritage Club are tax-deductible.  The YMCA is recognized as an IRS 501(c)3 charity.

Do you offer discounts for area companies?

We do offer discounts for employees of companies that become a YMCA Corporate Partner.  There is no cost for the company to become a Corporate Partner, although many of our partners do pay part of the monthly rate for their employees.  To find out if your company has a corporate membership or get more information about how your company can become a Corporate Partner, email or call Karen Crim at (806) 293-8319.

Do you offer personal trainers at the Y?

Yes.  As a benefit of your membership, you can take advantage of the Wellness Coaching Program within the first month of membership.  Benefits include a health assessment, fitness orientation and two personal training sessions.  Additional personal training packages are available for a fee. Click here for price list and more information about our personal training packages.

I will need child care while I work out.  What does the Y offer?

The Plainview YMCA has a babysitting service available to members and non-members called ChildWatch.  Let us watch your kids for up to two hours so you can enjoy a great workout!  Your child will be engaged in active play during that time, and we put safety first with a sign-in and sign-out procedure practiced at all times.

Do you rent your pool or party room?

We do! The YMCA facility may be rented for special occasions, swimming parties, birthday parties, all-night lock-ins, etc. For information about our swim parties click here.  To reserve a day for a party you must come in and fill out paperwork and pay for the rental 10 days in advance of your party.  Our party room is also available for baby showers, dance practices and other meetings. Our most popular rental is for two hours and that is $35.

What if I am not a member?

No problem! You can purchase a day pass and have full access to our entire facility all day. Day passes are $7 for youth (18 and under) and $10 for adults. Click here to print the day pass form and then you can have it filled out when you come!
