Aquatics
YMCA Swim Lessons
Classes are offered at various times of the year and participants are grouped according to skill level. Private lessons are available. Call the YMCA at 293-8319 for more details. Water Aerobics Water aerobics combines the benefits of an aerobic workout with the added benefits of water. Water serves three beneficial functions: the buoyancy reduces much of the stress on joints during exercise, the water’s warmth helps if joints are arthritic or muscle soreness occurs in exercise, and water provides a natural resistance to motion,a required component for most exercise programs. All aerobics classes are free and unlimited to YMCA members. Non-members may pay for a daily all-day pass to the YMCA or purchase a monthly aerobics pass. Life Guarding Classes Participants must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course. They must have parents permission and be able to swim the following: American crawl, elementary back stroke, breast stroke and side stroke. Also, they must be able to tread water, swim underwater and dive to a depth of 10 feet. CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid are prerequisites for this course and are offered in conjunction with the course. Deadline for registration is one week prior to course. Cost: $175 includes CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid. Swimming Pool Schedule
