New Equipment is here
Submitted by Rob Wilkinson on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 2:33amThree new recumbent/ ellipitcal machines arrived yesterday and they are awesome. We have two new treadmills on the way soon and we are in the process of installing an Activtrax fitness/nutrition kiosk to track your health and wellness growth. If you haven't been out to the Y in a while, I'd like to extend an invitation to you to come and see all the new equipment and programs we have to offer.

Director's Message
Submitted by Rob Wilkinson on Thu, 12/31/2009 - 5:18pmOn behalf of the Plainview YMCA, I am proud to share with you the highlights of another outstanding year.
Over the past year, we have touched over 15,000 lives in our various programs. Youth sports participants increased by 16%, child watch increased by 24% & facility membership increased by 7%. Several new programs were added including: a youth volleyball league, CPR training, Zumba, Power Yoga, Silver Sneakers, parent/tot swim lessons, Fit trek, & Zumba Kids. In addition, several new special events were added including: an annual awards banquet, a triathlon, a 4th of July Softball tournament & a 5k fun run.
The YMCA made several facility upgrades this year. The YMCA Board of Directors approved a substantial investment with the installation of 4 new ac/heat units. New shower units were installed in the men’s locker room. The softball fields received a make over that resulted in increased community use. The pool deck was resurfaced to ensure the safety of our members and guests. Trees and shrubs were added to spruce up our landscaping. The facility floors were stripped and waxed. The weight room received a much needed updated look. The entire weight room was painted to brighten up the room. In addition, the YMCA logo & core values were added to the walls.
I strongly believe that the Plainview YMCA is in prime position to continue growth both membership wise & programmatically. As we move forward into next year, we plan to offer a youth mentoring program at Ash & Lakeside, develop a recreational swim team, renovate existing facility space into a teen zone area, resurface the cardio room floor, resurface the racquetball courts, & develop our next five year strategic plan. We will also continue to develop program opportunities for both youth and adults. I encourage you to visit our website at for current program information. I look forward to continue working with the YMCA staff, Board of Directors, & the community to meet the needs of the Hale County area residents.www.plainviewymca.org
Happy New Year,
Rob Wilkinson
